Spinning Class this Saturday

Great Bike Clinic
Thanks Dan for organizing our first bike clinic of the year at Nebo Ridge Bicycles (4335 W. 106th St.), one of our partner bike shops. Although there was a small group, I think we all learned something and got to know the guys at the shop. If you are in need of a bike fit or bike tune-up (or both like Dawn was), please consider going to Nebo Ridge. Be sure to let them know you are with JDRF. Our next bike clinic will be February 17th at Indy Cycle Specialist.

NEXT EVENT
Our next spinning class will be this Saturday, January 30th at the Benjamin Harrison YMCA (5736 Lee Rd) starting at 1pm. Please come and bring some friends. RSVP so we can leave your name at the door (you do not need to be a Y member).

Training Schedule
The training schedule for this year has been posted (left hand side under Links to Team Information). This is subject to change, but for the most part it is correct. This schedule is for the Death Valley ride, I'll put some together for the other rides if necessary.

Registration
Registration for the rides is supposed to open next Monday, Feb. 1st. You'll receive an email from Stacey when the site is available for registration.

Fundraising
Check out Dan's blog entry about our adventure working the Conseco concession stands. It was great fun and we will have about two opportunities a month to participate. Although there is some up front commitment for this, it has the potential to raise a lot of money. If you are interested please contact Amy VanDewielle.

Future Events
We have lots of events planned over the next few months. These events are for you, but also for anyone you think might be interested in learning more about the JDRF Ride to Cure program. Please come join us and bring a friend. A copy of the schedule of events is posted (left hand side under Links to Team Information). The events are also included in the Training Schedule.

Conseco Concessions

say that three times real fast.

In a way working the concession stand at Conseco was like riding in Death Valley in the first time, you stand there waiting for the start wondering what you have gotten yourself into. With all the hardwork and a small amount confusion about what to do and which buttons to push it turned out to be a lot of fun, not as much fun as riding in Death Valley but still being there with other riders and friends made the evening enjoyable enough that tonight I will bring my wife along.
I'm looking forward to working with Kevin Garner,Michael Schwab,Melissa Schwab,Amy VanDeWielle and Lynn Baize tonight.
If your looking for a fun way to raise money for you ride this year hurry up and sign up.

P.S. don't tell my wife she thinks were going to a Pacer's game and going through a special entrance.

Training Schedule is available & Don't forget about Nebo Ridge on Tuesday

The 2010 Training Schedule is now available (go to Team Information on the right hand side).  This is subject to change, but will give you a pretty good idea of the mileage you will need and of the planned group rides.  The schedule will print on two pages, plus there is a third page on the Reference Info tab that provides information to the abbreviations used, directions to the ride sites & links to the organized rides that are referenced.

Don't forget the FREE BIKE CLINIC on Tuesday at Nebo Ridge.

Happy 10th Anniversary Team Indiana

Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2010, JDRF Ride to Cure Team Indiana ’s 10th Anniversary!

That’s right, it has been 10 years since the first 12 Indiana riders headed out into the desert for the JDRF Ride to Cure. Since that time, over 50 Indiana riders have participated in the Ride to Cure and they have raised over half a million dollars for JDRF. To celebrate this momentous occasion the team is returning to the original Ride to Cure Diabetes in Death Valley on October 16th. But that is a long time from now so we will focus on more immediate activities which begin this Sunday.

Announcing:
Spinning class for all past, present & future JDRF riders
- Sunday, January 10th 1pm
- Atheneaum YMCA downtown (you do not need to be a Y member)
- Following class, those who are interested can adjourn to the Rathskeller for some refreshments.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can make sure there are enough bikes.
Feel free to invite a friend who you think might be interested.

We will continue our 10th year celebration with a series of bike related activities in January through April before we jump into our road training season. Check out the Links to Team Information section on the left hand side of the blog and go to the first link for a list of all the upcoming events in January through April.
