I learned 2 valuable lessons tonight!

Riding against the wind and through the hills on the southwest side was brutal.  BRUTAL.  My legs were still a little sore from the Mini on Saturday and I did kickboxing this morning (clearly not smart) .... so I nearly died out there tonight :(

A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Dan!! Thank you so much for showing me how to switch gears!!! Until tonight I had never successfully changed my gears.  The last time I tried, I derailed the chain.  Whoops.  Not good.  Dan was really patient tonight and showed me how to adjust the gears according to the ride.  Awesome!!!

Gary, thanks for coming back to check on me :)  That was the second valuable lesson: keep some people's numbers in my cell phone!!!  I was calling my husband to get Gary's number from the list at home when Gary showed back up to make sure I was okay.  While I was waiting for Gary's number from the hubs, a very sweet man came over and asked me if I was broken down.  Only physically, I told him :)

Oh well ... I learned a lot and I'll be out there on Sunday!!!

  1. Dan and Gary rock! Keep up the good work, Heather. There is so much to learn, but also so many helpful people to teach you. You're going places, girl.

  2. Heather,
Great job in surviving that ride. Sorry I couldn't be there, but I knew Gary & Dan would take care of you. See you Sunday (I'll have a route between 15 and 35 miles worked out for you).

  3. Heather did great on our first hilly ride of the year, especially in the wind!

While I can't deny Dan is awesome (it goes without saying, his awesomeness is undeniable), it was actually Ted from Dayton who helped Heather on Tuesday night. Ted did a great job of helping make sure Heather was in the right gear for the climbs.

    Nice ride you guys!
